HCF Interview with artist of the Mini-Comic Fraggle Rock, Nichol Ashworth
Sep 26, 2014
Learn more about the short story Fraggle Rock found in the Boom's Fright Fest mini-comic from artist Nichol Ashworth! Learn more about Nichol's Halloween memories with her best and worst costumes, Halloween traditions and plans for this year!
HCF: What can we expect to see in terms of story and art in your Halloween ComicFest title?
Nichol Ashworth (NA): Though short, I wanted to give you a glimpse into the world of Fraggle Rock. There are caves to live in, Doozer constructions to eat and fantastic wonders to explore!
HCF: What is your favorite part about your comic?
NA: Specifically? Boober’s lines and poses. (Page 1, panel 3!) I love Boober; hands down my favorite fraggle.
HCF: Tell HCF fans why they should pick up your comic first during the event.
NA: It doesn’t need to be Halloween to enjoy a good (quick) story! If you read this, you might just find the in-spore-ation (in-comic joke) you need for pumpkin carving or costume making!
HCF: What is your favorite Halloween memory?
NA: I live near a haunted road with a VERY haunting history. As a grown-up, I took all my friends on a walk at midnight through the dark and misty streets, all the while telling them the gruesome tales of “Dudley Road”! They were terrified! Heck, I even creeped myself out! J
HCF: What has been your worst and best Halloween costume?
NA: Though I love dressing in medieval clothes… (and LARPing… *shame*) This is probably my favorite: (It’s dead, Jim…)
HCF: What is a Halloween tradition you have?
NA: Going out to a midnight corn maze! (And trying not to scream when the zombie guy comes after me)
HCF: What are you going to do for Halloween?
NA: The same thing, of course! Oh, and this year – I’d like to carve a vomiting pumpkin. I think those are hilarious.
HCF: What other titles would you associate with your HCF book? “If a comic readers likes____, they should pick up my title?”
NA: The Muppets (Like Kermit!) and anything that’s a wholesome good time.
HCf: Do you have any favorite Halloween, Monster or Horror themed comics?
NA: I think I luv Halloween is a fun, yet macabre title.
HCF: Are there any comics that you are looking forward to getting on HCF or in the near future?
NA: You never know!!
HCF: Any teasers about upcoming books or who you might be working with next?
NA: Definitely working on some all-ages or younger teen stuff coming up!! I’m very excited and I’m working with a great team!
