Retailers Share Feedback, Photos from Halloween ComicFest 2014

Look below to see what some retailers did for this year's event!

Punk Monkey Comics - Columbia, South Carolina

We had an awesome event!!  We ran a total store sale that so many of our regular and new customers took advantage of.  We also had the following:

  • Monkey Alley (Artist Alley) - Featured Sanford Greene (Uncanny Avengers, Rotten Apple),  Jeremy Dale (Skyward, GI Joe),  Thor Thorvaldson, Chuck Brown, Brian Hollins, Pretty Weird Art, and many more.
  • Live podcast from Nerds of the Apocalypse
  • The entire shopping center did Trick or Treating with all our customers!
  • Giveaways and Drawings
  • Costume contests
  • Local Cosplay group dressed as Batman, Catwoman and Black Canary
  • Kids area that had games and make your own superhero cape

Very exhausting day but what fun!!

Zaldiva Comics - Oakland Park, Florida

This was the first year that we tried out Halloween ComicFest, and it was a huge success for us. We had a much larger amount of foot traffic than on a normal Saturday, and we did about 60% of our FCBD sales from 2014, which was a pleasant surprise. We did tons of sales throughout the store including discounts on back issues, new releases, toys and trade paperbacks. We also decorated the store to look like a haunted house, including a fog machine, strobe lights, and playing Halloween music in the background.

Everybody who came got two free HCF comics. One thing that we also did was create an entry form for the contest so that we could enter our customers information for them, to ensure that they actually did enter the contest after they took the photo holding their comic. Overall this event was a big success, much of which I attribute to our aggressive Facebook advertising we did for the event. We also went door to door and hung the door hangers on houses in several neighborhoods nearby our shop. We are absolutely planning on participating again next year!

Alter Ego Comics- Lima, Ohio

This was our first year participating in HCF and we're definitely going to do it again next year. Our sales were double that of a normal Saturday and the exposure that we received within the community was well worth the expense.

Check out more photos of the costume contest here, and more photos of the Zombie Walk here. Plus, you can see more shots taken at the store here.
